Christopher Columbus was trying to reach the Indies (islands in South East Asia). He did not know he  reached a new continent so he called the natives Indians.
Columbus Day is celebrated in the United States of America to commemorate the landing of Christopher Columbus in the Americas on October 12th, 1492.
In some other countries this day has different names and people celebrate cultural and linguistic diversity.
In Spain this date has been celebrated since 1986 as the "Día de la Hispanidad"
How do we celebrate this day in Spain?
Would you like to make any changes?
